Mater Dei High School in Southern California is renowned for academics and athletics. Its Film and Media Department, led by Andrew Roberts, struggled with outdated PCs that couldn't handle Adobe Creative Cloud. In 2020, Roberts introduced MSI systems, starting with his own laptop, then upgrading to Codex R2 desktops and a Stealth 18 AI Studio. The reliable performance immediately boosted student creativity and project ambition. MSI has become the department’s go-to tech, and the school plans to expand its use as budgets allow.

Elevating Film Education With MSI High-performance Systems

About Mater Dei High School

Mater Dei High School, a top Catholic institution in Southern California, is known for its excellence in academics and athletics. Its Film and Media Department, led by Andrew Roberts, has grown 400% since 2015, but unreliable technology hindered student creativity.

Overcoming Technology Limitations

The department’s outdated PCs frequently crashed, causing lost projects. Adobe Creative Cloud applications, especially After Effects, required more power than existing systems could handle. “We’re searching for ways to get the best gear possible in the hands of our students,” Roberts said. In 2020, Roberts introduced MSI products, starting with his own MSI laptop. “It’s been a bulletproof workhorse from day one.” Seeing its reliability, he upgraded the department with five MSI Codex R2 desktops and a Stealth 18 AI Studio laptop. “These killer PCs easily handle Adobe Creative Cloud,” he noted.

Transforming Student Creativity

The impact was immediate. Students took on more ambitious projects, confident in their technology. “The new rigs inspire students to create, knowing they’re strong and reliable,” Roberts said. The high-performance MSI systems quickly became student favorites.

Looking Ahead

Mater Dei plans to expand its MSI fleet as budgets allow. “I’ve loved MSI since 2020 and am excited to keep working together for my students,” Roberts affirmed. With MSI’s support, the program continues to push creative boundaries and produce industry-level work.
