If you've forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to retrieve or reset it:
1. Ask your system administrator to reset your password
If your notebook is on a domain, your system administrator can help you to reset your password.
2. Reset your password online

3. Use your password hint
If you're using a local account, use your password hint as a reminder.
4. Use an administrator account
If there is someone with an administrator account, ask him or her to change your password for you.
5. Perform a system reset/recovery
Yon may need to reinstall Windows or reset/recover the system. Performing a system reset/recovery will return your computer to factory default and allow you to access Windows again.
6. Use a third-party utility
Search for "Windows password recovery tools" on the internet. These kinds of tools are used to recover, or reset lost user and administrator passwords used to log on to Windows.
P.S. Legally cracking or unlocking your own Windows password is certainly a legitimate practice!
