Answer

If the device enters WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) directly on startup, please follow the information below to troubleshoot.



A. Uninstall the latest updates



    If the device was installing the latest updates before the problem occurred, please refer to FAQ-8971 and go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Uninstall Updates  to uninstall the updates.



B. Check and repair file system errors and bad sectors on the C: drive



    (1) Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command prompt



         



    (2) Enter “chkdsk /r c:”



    (3) After the repair process is done, enter “sfc /scannow”



    (4) After the scan process is done, enter “Exit” and select “Continue” to enter the system.



C. Restore the device



    If a restore point was saved before, please follow the steps below to restore the device.



    (1) Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore



          



    (2) Select the Windows account and enter the password to log in.



    (3) Select the restore point you’d like to use, and follow the instructions to start restoring the system.



E. Reset this device



    (1) Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC



          



    (2) Select “Keep my files” to remove apps and settings but keep all the personal files



          



    (3) Select Cloud download or Local reinstall to start reset the device.



F. Perform a factory reset



   If the problem isn’t resolved after following the steps above, please go to Troubleshoot > Restore MSI factory settings > follow the instructions to start a factory reset.
