[How To] Norton Firewall Protection and Wi-Fi Hotspot Connection Settings
Answer
The Norton firewall helps protect your system by monitoring network connections and blocking potential security threats. It automatically applies different protection levels based on the type of network you are connected to.
Wi-Fi hotspots shared by external devices, such as mobile phones or other computers, are usually temporary networks. Their IP addresses and network settings may change frequently, and they are different from typical home or office networks.
For this reason, the firewall may treat mobile hotspots as untrusted networks and apply stricter security rules.
When connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot shared by an external device, if network access is limited, set the network as trusted after confirming it is safe. This allows you to maintain security while ensuring normal connectivity.
Follow the steps below to change the network type in Norton:
Open Norton - Security - Advanced Security - Network

In the settings page of Smart Firewall - Network, switch the network type to Private.
