MSI Laptop comes with a pre-installed system already have all needed drivers installed. Once the system is connected to the internet, Windows Update will automatically search for and install the latest available driver verseion.

If the same version of the NPU driver is reinstalled or updated on a system where it is already installed, you may only notice the mouse cursor briefly flashing without any further prompt. This is normal behavior.

To verify whether the NPU driver has been correctly installed/updated, please follow steps below:

a. Right-click the Windows icon on the taskbar.

b. Select Device Manager.

c. Locate the Neural processors device.

d. Double-click to expand the menu.

e. Right-click the Intel® AI Boost device → Properties → go to the Driver tab → check the Driver Version.

 

*If the NPU driver version is incorrect or the driver was not installed properly, please follow the steps below to perform a clean manual installation of the NPU driver.

Manual clean installation steps for the Intel NPU driver:

1. Go to the official MSI website, search for your product model, and access the product support page.

2. Locate and download the Intel NPU driver under the Chipset category.

3. Disconnect your laptop from the network.

4. Right-click the Windows icon on the taskbar and select Device Manager.

5. Find the Neural processors device, double-click to expand it, and select Intel(R) AI Boost.

6. Right-click the driver and select Uninstall device (make sure to check "Attempt to remove the driver for this device").

7. After uninstalling, you may select Scan for hardware changes to verify that the Intel NPU driver has been completely removed. If the Intel NPU driver is still visible, repeat steps 5–6 to fully uninstall it until no trace remains in the system.

8. Extract the previously downloaded Intel NPU driver ZIP file.

9. Open the Intel NPU driver folder, right-click the Install executable, and select "Run as administrator" (wait for the Intel NPU driver installation window to finish automatically before proceeding to the next step).

10. Restart your laptop to apply the changes.
