If the system already meets the game security requirements but still displays a “BIOS firmware update required” error window, this behavior is not caused by a system firmware issue. It occurs because the game company – Activision – anti-cheat system currently may have recognition anomalies with different manufacturers’ TPM types and versions, resulting in incorrect detection on certain hardware platforms and triggering a false “BIOS firmware update required” prompt.





This anomaly requires the game company to adjust its detection logic for resolution. In the short term, MSI recommends applying the following steps to switch the system security processor mode to bypass the issue.



*This is a non-standard configuration. It is recommended to keep the system at default settings when not playing games to avoid unknown issues.



1. Confirm current TPM status



    1.1. Enter “tpm.msc” in the Windows search bar and open it.



    1.2. Check the manufacturer name in the lower right corner: if it shows MSFT, please proceed with the following BIOS adjustment.





2. Enter BIOS and modify settings



    2.1. Restart the computer and repeatedly press DELETE on the boot screen to enter BIOS.



    2.2. After entering BIOS, press the key combination: Left Alt + F2 + Right Ctrl + Right Shift to access the hidden BIOS menu, then follow the path below:



    Navigate to Advanced > AMD fTPM Configuration; change AMD fTPM Switch from AMD CPU HSP to AMD CPU fTPM.





    2.3. After completing the configuration, press F10 and select Save & Exit. The system will restart.



3. After rebooting into Windows, launch the game again. At this point, the Ricochet anti-cheat system should correctly recognize the TPM information, and the BIOS update prompt will no longer appear.
