Founded in 1986, MSI’s journey has been one of resilience and adaptability. Initially recognized for its motherboards and graphics cards, MSI expanded into notebooks and systems, launching its first laptop, the M510C, in 2004. The path was not always smooth; in 2009, anticipating the demand for portable, lightweight laptops, MSI developed the X340, the thinnest laptop on the market at that time. However, the rise of smartphones and tablets presented new challenges, forcing MSI to pivot and redefine its future.

Yet, challenges often bring new opportunities. These difficulties prompted MSI to rethink what consumers truly wanted. Eric recalled that around this time, the game World of Warcraft was hugely popular. During a visit to an overseas LAN party, they noticed gamers lugging heavy PCs to the event. What these gamers really needed was a high-performance computer in a more compact form. Recognizing the potential of the gaming market, MSI decided to move away from price wars and focus on developing high-value gaming laptops for users. By prioritizing gamers' needs and creating products accordingly, MSI began releasing one gaming laptop after another that perfectly met gamers' demands. This strategy successfully established MSI's laptop empire, and by 2015, their gaming laptops had achieved the highest market share worldwide.

David Chou, Vice President of Sales at MSI, shared insights on MSI’s internal transformation as the company entered the gaming market. Convincing employees that "gaming is the future" was a significant challenge. Through numerous lectures and training sessions, employees learned to understand the gaming culture and social media trends. This knowledge helped them internalize their work, engage with the gaming community, and integrate the MSI brand deeply into the minds of consumers.

Regarding product design, David emphasized the importance of extensive research into consumer needs and market feasibility before launching any product. MSI takes pride in handling every aspect from product conception to manufacturing in their own factories. This integrated approach allows them to swiftly adjust product features based on feedback, consistently prioritizing the consumer’s perspective—a key factor in their success.

If there's one recent laptop that stands out, David highlighted the collaboration with Mercedes-AMG. Discussions about the partnership began before the pandemic, as both sides shared similar values and wanted to create something special together. Despite various delays, they resumed discussions in 2022, and AMG never considered another partner. Due to MSI’s pursuit of innovative technology and extreme performance, they successfully created the Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, blending both brands' visions of excellence. This laptop received consumer acclaim and various awards, reinforcing the belief that staying true to one’s roots is never wrong.

In response to the growing demand for portability among gamers, MSI recently launched the Claw gaming handheld PC. David believes that modern technology allows high-performance equipment to be integrated into a small form factor, enabling MSI to fully utilize its past advantages and successfully capture gamers' attention.
