If you are using a discrete graphics card and there is no display output, please refer to [Graphics Card] What to do if there is no display on the external monitor connected to the graphics card.
If you are facing issues with the integrated graphics card of the processor, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:
- Make sure the connection is correct
- Verify if the processor has an integrated graphics card
- Verify processor and motherboard compatibility
- Check BIOS settings
- Check monitor settings
Make sure the connection is correct
Please refer to the image below. If you intend to output the display using the integrated graphics of the processor, you need to connect to the Display/ HDMI/ Type-C ports on the rear I/O of the motherboard. Conversely, if you wish to use a discrete graphics card for output, you should connect the monitor to the discrete graphics card.
Verify if the processor has an integrated graphics card
If your processor doesn't have an integrated graphics card, you will need to use a discrete graphics card to output the display. You won't be able to use the Display/ HDMI/ Type-C ports on the rear I/O of the motherboard. To confirm whether the processor has an integrated graphics card, you can visit the product page for that processor. Taking Intel Core i9-13900K as an example:
The integrated graphics card model for that processor is Intel UHD Graphics 770.
Verify processor and motherboard compatibility
Please refer to [Motherboard] How to check CPU specification? to confirm whether your motherboard supports the installed processor.
Note:
- Having the same socket between the CPU and motherboard does not necessarily guarantee compatibility. Please rely on the models listed in the motherboard's CPU support list for guidance.
- Certain CPUs may require updating to a specific version or updating the BIOS in order to ensure compatibility.
Check BIOS settings
1. Press “Delete” continuously after booting up to enter the BIOS setup interface, and select “Settings” → ”Advanced” → ”Integrated Graphics Configuration”.
2. Confirm that the "Initiate Graphics Adapter" setting is set to "IGD."
This option is for configuring the primary display card for booting. IGD refers to the Integrated Graphics Device, while PEG refers to the PCI-Express Discrete Graphics Card.
Check monitor settings
1. Ensure that the monitor is properly connected and powered on.
2. Make sure the signal source setting of the monitor is correct. Using a MSI monitor as an example, if you manually select a specific signal source, the monitor will not scan other interfaces for input signals after being turned on.
If you have tried the above troubleshooting methods and still cannot resolve the issue, please reach out to MSI customer service center for further assistance.
