When you encounter a situation where the monitor is powered on but there is no display or it is not receiving power (power indicator light is not on), please refer to the following steps for troubleshooting:
No display or black screen (power indicator light is on)
1. Type-C no display:
1-1. Confirm the Type-C cable supports display output.
1-2. Confirm the Type-C port of the device supports display output (e.g., DP alt mode or Thunderbolt).
1-3. If the device's Type-C port supports Thunderbolt protocol, please ensure that the Type-C cable being used is also Thunderbolt certified.
1-4. Typically, Type-C ports on smartphones or other mobile devices do not support display output. It is recommended to check the specifications of the device's Type-C port firstly.
1-5. Remove any adapters, docking stations, or other devices and directly connect using a C to C connection to confirm if the display is functioning properly.
2. Check if the computer is in sleep, hibernation, or power-saving mode.
3. Verify the connections: Ensure that the power cable and signal cable (such as HDMI, DP, VGA, DVI, etc.) are correctly and securely connected. Sometimes, improper or loose connections can cause display issues.
Some cables have a design to prevent detachment. When connecting the cables, you will need to press down the button highlighted in the red box in the image below to securely insert the cables.
4. Verify the input source: Within the monitor's OSD (On-Screen Display) menu, select the correct input source under the "Input Source" option.
5. Test with different cables: If you have additional cables, try using them to see if the display works properly. If the display functions normally with other cables, it indicates that the original cable may be faulty. If you don't have extra cables, please skip this step.
6. Restore monitor settings to factory defaults.
If your monitor cannot display the OSD menu properly, you can skip this step.
Otherwise, open the OSD menu of the monitor → navigate to "Setting" → "Reset" → "Yes".
Note: The look of the OSD menu may vary depending on the model.
7. Connect the monitor to another device: If another device can display properly on the monitor, it indicates that there may be an issue or incorrect settings with the original device. We recommend contacting the manufacturer of that device for further assistance. If you don't have an additional device for testing, you can skip this step.
8. Change the power outlet: Sometimes, a specific power outlet may have issues. Plug the monitor into a different power outlet to see if there is any improvement.
If you have tried the above troubleshooting methods and still cannot resolve the issue, please reach out to the MSI customer service center for further assistance.
No power (power indicator light is off)
1. Check if the power button of the monitor is turned on.
2. Verify the power connection: Check if the monitor's power cable is properly connected to the power outlet and ensure that the outlet has power. Try using another power cable that is known to be working to test and eliminate any potential issues with the power cable itself.
3. Use the original power cable and adapter: Using a non-MSI supplied power cable and adapter may lead to unexpected issues. If your original power cable or adapter is damaged or lost, please contact the MSI customer service center.
