[Notebook] Laptop Cleaning Guide

This article will guide you on how to clean your laptop. With the passage of time, laptops inevitably accumulate dirt, affecting the performance and user experience. To maintain your laptop in optimal condition, it is recommended to clean it regularly.

Clean the ventilation openings and I/O ports

Dust and hair from the environment can accumulate on the fan and ventilation openings over time. If these openings are blocked, it may affect fan operation, leading to suboptimal device performance.

For cleaning, consider using canned air or air blowers readily available in stores. Make sure to keep a safe distance from the vents and avoid spraying upside down.

Note: Please shut down the laptop before cleaning.

Clean the screen

For dust on the screen, gently wipe it horizontally with an ultra-fine fiber cloth.

If there are stains, do not press hard on the screen or attempt to scratch them off to prevent damage. Dampen a new screen cleaning sponge, wring out excess water(ensuring it's not dripping), preferably using pure or distilled water. Gently wipe the screen in small circular motions; avoid vigorous scrubbing.

For stubborn stains, add one drop of mild dishwashing detergent to water and clean the screen based on above instructions.

Clean the keyboard

When cleaning the keyboard, shut down the laptop and remove the power cord and battery (if applicable for removable batteries).

Note: Avoid using sharp tools to prevent damage to keyboard components.

  • If you have a small vacuum cleaner with an attached brush, use it to remove dirt from the keyboard. You can also use canned air to blow dust particles between the keys.
  • Use a cleaning gel to absorb dirt by spreading it over the keyboard surface and into the gaps.

Clean the outer casing

When wiping the LCD screen frame and top/bottom cover, use a soft, lint-free cloth with 70 to 75% alcohol for gentle cleaning.

Note: Avoid abrasive materials such as abrasive cloth, towels, tissues, or similar items for wiping.

  • Shut down the laptop and remove the power cord. Inspect the laptop for any external damage.
  • Spray alcohol onto a soft, clean cloth and gently wipe the LCD screen frame and top/bottom cover.
Only moisten the cloth slightly; do not spray alcohol directly on the screen or leave excess liquid on the laptop.
  • After wiping, allow the laptop to air-dry naturally.
If there are still traces or stains, use a neutral cleaning solution on a damp cloth and wipe the affected areas.

Regularly cleaning your laptop is crucial for maintaining its good condition and extending its lifespan. Follow the above steps for cleaning, and exercise patience and diligence to ensure your laptop remains in optimal condition.
