Altex Computers & Electronics

Altex, a Texas-based computer and electronics retailer founded in 1980, has built a reputation for delivering reliable, business-grade computer systems. Serving both B2B and consumer clients, Altex provides tailored technology solutions for a range of industries, from corporate offices to healthcare facilities, blending eCommerce with physical retail. When Intel discontinued its NUC line, Altex sought a reliable alternative to match their high quality and supply chain stability standards. According to Andrew Briggs, Purchasing Agent at Altex, quality was a key concern - “We prioritize reliability over low prices because our business is built on trust.” Briggs emphasized, “It’s crucial that we avoid supply issues once we launch a new product line.” With an established relationship in place, Altex reached out to MSI when Intel exited the NUC market. “When Intel stopped making NUCs, we naturally reached out to see if MSI could help us. Thankfully, they were able to fill the shoes that Intel left behind, and we quickly reached an agreement.” After evaluating the options, Altex selected MSI’s Cubi 5 series, which delivered on multiple fronts: product quality, cost-effectiveness, and consistent supply. Through partner distributor D&H, Altex benefited from a streamlined, reliable logistics network which provided fast, dependable deliveries and optimized supply chain efficiency, ensuring Altex could confidently fulfill client orders without delays. Since switching to the Cubi 5, Altex has seen substantial advantages. “These units have helped us increase profits and improve cash flow while maintaining our focus on quality,” Briggs noted. The low RMA rate of the Cubi 5 series allows Altex to maintain strong customer satisfaction by minimizing downtime and after-sales concerns. Looking ahead, Altex anticipates ongoing growth with MSI as a trusted partner. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with MSI and scaling our business computer production with their products in the future”.

Lancaster High School Esports

At Lancaster High School in Antelope Valley, technology underpins both general instruction and specialized Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in Esports, 3D design, and cybersecurity. With 2,700 students, the school required advanced systems to support its rigorous academic and technical curriculum. However, outdated technology created challenges, including insufficient performance and an outdated appearance in the Esports lab. Seeking a solution, Mario Villalobos, Network Technician, and Esports Advisor, turned to MSI after receiving strong recommendations. MSI delivered high-performance gaming desktops of their Codex R 12th series, featuring Intel® Core™ i5-12400F processor and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060 graphics card, complemented by sleek, modern designs. “The entire package really came together,” Villalobos said. “You were our first choice, and I’m glad we got what we wanted.” The impact of the MSI gaming desktops has been significant. Students now have access to powerful machines that reduce lag times and allow for seamless use of advanced applications, greatly enhancing their productivity and engagement. “It’s good to tell students, “We have legitimate PCs used in professional settings,’” Villalobos noted. This credibility boost has contributed to greater student interest and participation as they recognize the high standards and professional tools available to them. Looking ahead, Villalobos envisions even more integration of MSI solutions across the school’s CTE program. While the Esports lab is well-equipped, he sees potential to expand into other instructional areas, such as CAD and 3D design, where reliable processing power is essential. “We don’t necessarily need a flashy computer but rather a workhorse that can handle 3D design,” Villalobos said. Expanding the partnership with MSI would allow Lancaster High to elevate its technical curriculum further, equipping students with the tools they need to be prepared for industry demands.

Mae L. Feaster Charter School - CTE Program

Mae L. Feaster Charter School (FCS), situated in a diverse community, is committed to providing essential academic, social, and career-building skills to its K-8 students. As a Title 1 school, FCS serves a diverse student body with a strong commitment to equity and inclusivity. With 60% of students being English language learners, the school’s Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) provides afterschool and summer programs focused on academic support, social-emotional learning, esports, and career technical education (CTE), helping students build the skills needed for future success. FCS faced major challenges in acquiring high-performance products for demanding applications like CAD software for engineering and design. Additionally, they had to contend with lengthy approval processes from the San Diego County of Education and district IT directors. To address these issues, FCS turned to MSI, selecting it over competitors like Alienware, ASUS, and Acer for its outstanding performance, cost-effectiveness, and immediate availability. MSI’s prime laptops and OLED monitors perfectly aligned with the school’s needs. MSI Titan laptops, known for their high performance, were ideal for running heavy esports games or applications such as 3D modeling and programming. Meanwhile, the OLED monitors, with their superior color accuracy and 240Hz refresh rate, enhanced the learning experience in engineering and design classes by providing clearer, more detailed visuals. This integration of MSI products led to a significant improvement in instructional quality, with students benefiting from faster processing and clearer visuals, creating a more immersive and effective learning environment. MSI’s cost-effective solutions enabled the school to maximize its technology budget while still providing high-quality hardware. This affordability was particularly beneficial given the financial challenges faced by many students. Roel Mislan, ELOP Coordinator and Technology Manager at FCS expressed his satisfaction with the partnership: “MSI’s products have been a game-changer for us. The Titan laptops and OLED monitors have truly enhanced our students’ learning experiences. The ability to process and render faster has significantly impacted our programs.” FCS plans to expand its use of MSI products across its growing CTE program and other educational settings. The flexibility and performance of MSI’s products will be key to supporting the school’s future growth and initiatives.
